What is Gen Z?

Gen Z (generation Z) is a phrase to refer to a group of people born between 1995 and 2012. In addition to Gen Z, the younger generation reaches adulthood in the second decade of the 21st century known by many other names such as Gen Tech, Net Gen, Plurals, Zoomers, Internet Generation, Generation Z, iGen, iGeneration, Gen Wii, Digital Natives, Neo-Digital Natives, Founders, Homeland Generation, Post millennials, or later Millennials…



However, one idea is that Gen Z are people born between 1997 and 2015.

Around the world, there are about 2.6 billion people in Generation Z, accounting for about a quarter of the population. In Vietnam, Gen Z has about 15 million people, accounting for about 25% of the national workforce.

Generation Z is the next generation after Millennials (Gen Y) and before Generation Alpha (α), and is usually the offspring of Generation X (born between 1965 and 1979).

Why is it called Gen Z?

People born between 1995 and 2012, the litter born right after Gen Y (Gen Y) should be called Gen Z or Gen Z. The word Gen Z first appeared in an article in September 2000.  

Most of the members of Generation Z have been exposed and used technology since childhood, so they feel very comfortable, very welcome to technology, mobile, Internet and social media, from Facebook, Google, Youtube, Instagram, etc. 

Gen Z can all use and find information quickly, without much effort, but not necessarily have a high digital level, different from generation Y, mostly if you are digitally savvy and exposed, are usually highly qualified.

Generation Z (Gen Z) was born in the developed Internet era, having access to technology from a young age. 

Gen Z is known as the citizens of the digital age, thinking about money and economics, and is expected to be the "captain" in the process of changing and building a developed world in the future.

Some other generations

In addition to generation Z, there are other generations with names such as:

Generation Alpha (α): A group of people born between 2013 and 2025.

Generation Y or Millennials: A group of people born between 1980 and 1994.

Xennial Generation (Micro Generation, Oregon Trail or Catalano): A group of people born between 1975 and 1985.

Generation X (Generation X, Baby Bust, Latchkey, MTV generation or Gen X): A group of people born between 1965 and 1979.

Baby Boomer Generation: This is a group of people born between 1946 and 1964

The Silent Generation: A group of people born between 1925 and 1945

The Greatest Generation: A group of people born between 1910 and 1924

The Interbellum Generation: A group of people born between 1901 and 1913

The Lost Generation: A group of people born between 1890 and 1915.
